A café for pessimists? Quite the contrary. Those entering Schopenhauer in Frankfurt’s Nordend will... be surprised by the cheery colorful décor. Chandeliers draped with flower garlands hang from the ceiling and are equipped with candles, although the actual sources of light are the many light bulbs and little lamps. The seats by the window are decorated with red pillows, the walls are adorned with mirrors and Schopenhauer quotes. Speakers give off soft beats of electro pop music. There is a good selection of drinks. The range contains the usual cocktails, wines and pleasingly many brands of beer (among these Kölsch, Helles, Dunkles, Pils and Berliner Weiße). Warm dishes are also available, such as Tarte Flambee and pasta. On Sunday’s there is a brunch. Games of billiards are possible in a side room. In summer, there is outside seating. Service is friendly. No sign of pessimism. more
