Outer space tourism does not have to be expensive. Journeys through the spangled sky are offered by the... big Zeiss planetarium in Berlin. Without any annoying weightlessness, one can sit in a cozy chair enjoying the “Big Tour of the World of Planets” (Die Große Tour durch die Welt der Planeten) and the magnificent display of 9,000 stars on a Sunday afternoon. This is possible because of the planetarium projector Cosmorama from Carl Zeiss, which projects images on to a 75 ft (23 m) wide curved dome hall. Since 1987, the biggest planetarium in Germany has stood as a huge silver ball in the middle of Prenzlauer Berg. Different events offer a view of the spangled sky. The “schönste Sternsagen der Griechen” (best star legends of the Greeks) deals with figures from Greek mythology that gave their names to several constellations. There are also programs for kids, dealing with the seasons, for example, for 5 to 8 year olds and “The little star dream“ (Der kleine Sternentraum), an outer space tale about a little boy and two falling stars. The series “Hörspielkino underneath the spangled sky” is well frequented, and every once and a while there is even organ music underneath the spangled sky.more
