Kalvarienberg with Church

Those who make their way from the town to the Kalvarienberg will be rewarded with an expansive view of the Isar valley and the town along the 1300 ft (400 m) route to the top of the hill. Beyond the view, though, the unique Baroque twin church with its two thin towers (the so-called ‘Crown of Tölz’) is more than worth the visit. The ‘Holy Stairs’ can be found inside the church; these stairs were initially built outdoors and the church building was built over it later on. In addition to the... church, visitors can take a look at the Golgotha hill with its larger-than-life crucifixion ensemble, which was erected in 1735.
