Liguria like out of a picture book: Picturesque, colorful boats on the beach in front of the pastel-colored houses of the old fishing district at the Baia del Silenzio, contrasted against the green foothills, Promontorio dell’Isola, with the remarkable Romanesque church San Nicolò being one of the oldest buildings in Sestri. Hans Christian Andersen, who spent some time in Sestri in 1833, gave the Baia delle Favole its poetic name (Bay of Fables).
