Hagia Sophia (Aya Sofya Camii)
For nearly one thousand years, the Hagia Sophia, one of the most magnificent domed buildings of the world, used to be the religious center of the once glorious Byzantine Empire. After the conquest of the city by the Ottomans in 1453, the church that was consecrated in the 6th century was used as a mosque until its conversion into a museum in 1934.
