Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve

Since 1967, Hanauma Bay has been a marine reserve that provides a wonderful opportunity for snorkeling or diving. The bay’s coral reef is home to countless colorful tropical fish. Their identification is aided by so-called “Fish ID Cards”, laminated cards with pictures of the fish species, available in the Marine Education Center. Moray eels and water turtles can be observed here. The ocean floor is formed by the crater of an old volcano, which was flooded by the ocean. An obligatory film shown... more
