With its mighty dome raising above the roofs of the city, the marble church – Frederik's Church being the official name – is one of the most significant buildings in Copenhagen. Construction beginning in 1740, initinally it was supposd to outshine St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. However, the project could not be financed and only with money from the industrialist C.F.
