North America

Huge forests, vast deserts and mighty mountains, bustling metropolises, tropical islands and perpetual ice – in the country of unlimited possibilities, travelers find everything their heart desires. North America is part of the American double continent, which comprises, apart from the United States and Canada, the island of Greenland and further island states. From a geographic point of view, even the Central American and Caribbean States belong to the North American continent, which is separated from South America by the Isthmus of Panama.

Surrounded by the crashing waves of the Arctic Ocean, the Atlantic and the Pacific, the North American continent extends from the Caribbean Islands up to Alaska high in the north and offers unique tourist attractions, breathtaking landscapes and world-famous sights.

The possibilities are seemingly endless: lovely white-sand beaches and the turquoise blue water of the Caribbean impress visitors from all over the world; those interested in culture... can walk in the footsteps of the Mayas and Aztecs in Mexico; daring adventurers embark on an expedition in the Central American jungle.

What captivates people from around the world are not least the big cities like New York and Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. In this context, the Statue of Liberty in New York City, the Times Square in New York or Cape Canaveral as an important center of space travel are especially worth mentioning, and so is Hollywood, the hub of the international film industry.
The coasts of Florida and California attract surfers and other water sports enthusiasts in great numbers. The beautiful scenery of the Appalachian Mountains and lakes away from the hustle and bustle of the major cities are further centers of attraction in North America. The snow-covered wilderness of Alaska promises an experience of a special kind; the area offers great conditions for all kinds of winter sports. A drive along the Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles will surely leave you with unforgettable impressions; the Hawaiian Islands, which also belong to the United States, are considered to be a dream destination par excellence.

Canada, on the other hand, is characterized by impressive coastlines, endless forests and mountain lakes as well as picturesque fishing villages and large cities. With more than 30 national parks, Canada is furthermore an ideal destination for nature lovers and wildlife adventurers. Toronto, the biggest Canadian city, is located on Lake Ontario, one of the five Great Lakes, most of which can be found between Canada and the US (Lake Michigan is completely on US territory). The Niagara Falls in the province of Ontario are a magnificent natural spectacle, and the cities and provinces Québec and Vancouver are modern centers of culture and architecture.
