This relatively small continent, located between the Urals in the east, the Mediterranean in the south, the Atlantic Ocean in the west and the Norwegian Sea in the north, consists of 45 states and is a melting pot of people from all nationalities, who meet there, live together, travel together and love to come back again and again.

Europe’s great asset is its diversity: the Mediterranean states in the south spoil guests and locals with their favorable climate characterized by a lot of sun, hot and dry summers and wet but mild winters, whereas the arctic north is often covered by ice and snow and offers great possibilities for winter sports enthusiasts. With its different kinds of landscapes and its rich history and culture, Europe is an extraordinarily varied travel destination. Several large islands, such as the British Islands, Sicily and the Balkan Peninsula as well as countless small islands belong to the European territory, which boasts of a coastline of 117,000 km. Most European... countries are located at the sea, some of them are even completely surrounded by water. Sunbathers find their dream destinations above all around the Mediterranean, in Spain, France, Italy or Greece, on the Greek and Balearic Islands as well as in Portugal and the Canaries in the Atlantic Ocean.

However, Europe is not only a perfect destination for beach holidays. The continent was home to some of the great cultures of antiquity, and the cultural heritage can be experienced in many places. The Greek capital Athens, the “birthplace of democracy”, Rome, which is full of history, and Venice, also situated in Italy and completely built on water, attract people with numerous sights. In Andalusia, the Moors have left their mark, and the breathtaking Alpine scenery of Austria, France and Switzerland invite for hiking during the summer months and for winter sports during the winter; the impressive fjords of Norway, the Scottish Highlands and the huge volcanoes in Iceland are only some examples of what Europe has to offer.
Also, as far as architecture, art, fashion and music are concerned, European cities play a leading role: Napoleonic pomp awaits you in Paris, a lively music and fashion scene in London and groundbreaking design in Copenhagen, Stockholm and Antwerp. The capitals Amsterdam, Budapest, Istanbul, Madrid, Warsaw, Vienna, Prague and St. Petersburg are further frequently visited destinations in Europe.

Every single European state has its special charm, and there is hardly any other continent on earth on which you can travel so fast from one country to another. Consequently, there is only one question left: Where should the journey begin, and where should it end? more
